Trip to the land of Himalayas

The mountain range of Himalaya, the literal meaning of which is “home of ice”, acts as a separator between the Indo-Gangetic plain and the Tibetan plateau. Known for distinctive flora and fauna, the Himalayas show a lot of diversity in altitude and landscape. Apart from the lofty snow-capped peaks, the region is dotted with a number of high altitude lakes, that add a peculiar calmness to the entire mountain belt.

Rich greenery, rocky terrain, steep-n-twirling hilly roads, native wildlife, snow-white mountain peaks - all when combined, make the Himalayas a perfect touring destination for adventurists and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Let’s have a look at the most prominent places of interest in the Himalayas:

Himachal - Often known as India’s outdoor adventure playground, Himachal is blessed with free-flowing underground water and lofty peaks. Apart from trekking, skiing & paragliding, this Himalayan state still embraces the colonial echoes and fairy-tale architecture. Some of the must-visit places in Himachal are McLeod Ganj, Shimla, Lahaul-Spiti, Manali, Parvati Valley, to name a few. The interlocking mountain ranges in the Himachal topography makes it a perfect exploration place for those who would love to go for Himalayan motorcycle tours.

Uttarakhand - A small corner state situated in the lap of Himalayas, Uttarakhand in true sense is a land of diversity. Be it steamy jungles or revered temples, serene hill stations, hiking trails and spiritual sites, Uttarakhand is a mix-bag when it comes to variety. The winning amalgamation of eye-catching landscape and twisting hilly roads, pulls the right strings for adventure seekers. Whether you are looking for a calm & relaxing break, or want to explore through Himalayan motorbike tours, Uttarakhand is the place.

Jim Corbett - The oldest national park in India, Jim Corbett offers a nice ride along the numerous ravines, ridges and small plateaus. Home to Sal forests, grasslands and rivers, this natural wildlife habitat is located in the foothills of Himalayas. The entire region is further divided into 6 zone, namely - Bijrani, Dhela, Jhirna, Dhikala, Durga Devi and Sonanadi. Out of the six, Dhikala is the one with the highest concentration of wildlife. Some of the adventure activities that you can participate in Jim Corbett are body surfing, trekking, rock climbing, rafting, parasailing and mountain biking.

Rajaji National Park - Renowned for wild elephants, the Rajaji National Park is located near the holy city of Haridwar, in the forested foothills. Stretched over an area of 820 square kilometres, this wildlife park is one of the few unspoilt natural habitats in the country.

Whether you want to experience the Himalayan motorcycle tours or you want to explore the roky terrain on four-wheelers, get ready with your back-pack.
