Tour of Tuscany
OVERVIEW
Ride the roads of Tuscany, Umbria and Marche and experience the unique Italian way of life.
This tour across the ancient lands of the Etruscans and Romans is for riders, for of culture and history buffs, and for everyone who simply loves Italy.
It all starts in Florence, aka Firenze, a city of unequaled beauty. From here we go south to the Chianti region, where the hills fade into a grayish blue with stone pines, castles and historic towns all around us as we cruise towards Siena.
The horse race that made Siena famous, “Il Palio”, is held annually, right in downtown, on the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo. Siena is an amazing place, so a rest day here is more than justified. In Assisi, home town of St. Francis, who gave away his wealth to help the poor, the giant cathedral and the pretty old town welcome countless pilgrims from around the world. It’s definitively worth another rest day!
Next we head to San Marino, the city that is an independent country and the world’s oldest republic. Explore its castles and fortresses or take your bike out on the surrounding roads. Rest day? Absolutely! Our grand finale is a jaunt over the mountain passes of the Alpe di Serra on our way back to Florence.
