Ladakh (Cold Desert Trail)
OVERVIEW
Day 1 : Arrive at the town of Leh and get picked up via taxi from the airport and transferred to your hotel. Leh is the capital of the paradise called “Ladakh” depicting eternal beauty and wrapped in the most beautiful design of the mighty Himalayas.
Day 2 : Leh is known as the “Land of High Passes”. The cold desert is dotted with stupas and mud brick houses in a background of steep and imposing Himalayas.
Day 3 : Ride to Nubra Valley, popularly known as Dorma or ‘the valley of flowers’ via Khardung-La Pass - one of the highest motorable roads (5602 mts) in the world. Overnight in camps at Hunder in the midst of white sand dunes and double humped camels.
Day 4 : Ride back to Leh from Khardung-La which means “Pass of the lower castle”.This is a major caravan route from Leh to Kashgar in Central Asia.
Day 5 : Rest day in Leh. Spend the day here to explore the “Shanti Stupa”, “Magnetic hill” and the famous “Patthar Sahib Gurudwara. Next is Alchi-a must visit to this small village in the Indus valley abandoned centuries ago.
Day 6 : After breakfast, proceed to Pangong Tso lake, which is 134 km (83 miles) long and extends from India to Tibet. 60% of the length of the lake lies in China passing through the Chang-La, 3rd highest motorable road.
Day 7 : Ride back to Leh. After reaching Leh spend the rest of the day soaking in the sights and sounds of the local market.
Day 8 : After an incredible high altitude experience you will be transferred to the airport to fly back to New Delhi.
